The Trust Board of Burnett Foundation Aotearoa (formerly the New Zealand AIDS Foundation) is seeking to appoint two new Trustees/Board members. The role is remunerated and is for a two-year term.

The principal responsibilities of Burnett Foundation Aotearoa Trustees/Board members are to set the overall strategic direction of the organisation, monitor performance against strategic goals, employ and monitor the performance of the Chief Executive, and represent the Foundation’s many stakeholder communities at the governance level.

Burnett Foundation Aotearoa has been at the forefront of the community response to HIV and other STIs in Aotearoa
for nearly 40 years. The Foundation has recently developed an exciting new 5-year strategy, which widens our purpose to include Rainbow sexual health and integrates with the Burnett Foundation Aotearoa Rautaki Māori (Māori Strategy).

To that end, the Trust Board is seeking applicants with the skills, experience and enthusiasm required to contribute to the successful development and implementation of these long-term strategies, and in particular:

  • People with prior governance experience;
  • People with skills and/or experience in legal and compliance;
  • Members of Rainbow and takatāpui communities, including lesbian, trans and gender-diverse communities;
  • People living with HIV; and
  • Māori.

Consideration will also be given to appointing additional strong applicants with a willingness to contribute to the future of Burnett Foundation Aotearoa in a co-opted capacity.

The Trust Board has seven Trustees and meets approximately 6 times each year, although some work is necessary from time to time between meetings. Each Trustee is expected to join a minimum of one of the Board’s committees.

Trustees have a two-year term with the option of being appointed for another two terms.
