Our kaimahi based in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, have got two exciting events coming up! For those near (and perhaps even far) who are keen to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Homosexual Law Reform in Aotearoa, check out the details below.

40 Years On

An immersive queer movie night at Lumière Cinemas. In partnership with Ōtautahi Christchurch Pride, we're sharing the fine mahi of three independent filmmaking teams. The evening will conclude with rich kōrero about their creative processes, as well as audience discussion about times predating HLR.

Check out the films Ally, directed by Evienne Jones, Blood, Sweat & Glitter, directed by Evienne Jones, and Homecoming, written and Directed by Grae Meek.

When: Sunday, 2 August 2026, 4–6pm. First movie starts at 4:15pm.

Queer History Walk

A sociable opportunity to learn about the rich queer history of Ōtautahi, Christchurch. We'll gather at the Te Toka Centre, take a guided hikoi through the town, then enjoy a shared BBQ lunch at 12:30pm. Ngā mihi to LAMBDA - Christchurch's LGBTQ+ Tramping Club, and Ōtautahi Christchurch Pride for helping us celebrate the town!
