New Chief Executive Officer

Nau mai, haere mai Liz Gibbs

We are proud to announce the appointment of Liz Gibbs (she/her) as the new Chief Executive Officer | Kaiwhakahaere Matua of Burnett Foundation Aotearoa.

Monday 28 April 2025

Liz brings over two decades of senior leadership experience across the charitable, philanthropic, and public sectors. Known for her strategic insight, collaborative leadership, and commitment to social impact, Liz is a values-driven leader deeply aligned with our vision of an Aotearoa with zero HIV transmission, where all people living with HIV thrive, and rainbow and takatāpui communities enjoy great sexual health.

She has worked across the commercial and for-purpose sectors in the UK, India, Canada, and Aotearoa — including most recently as Group Head of Philanthropy at Perpetual Guardian and Chief of Social Impact at the Selwyn Foundation.

Liz is an exceptional leader whose passion, vision, and experience will help shape the future of our organisation. Her appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to bold, inclusive leadership and to building on the legacy of those who have guided our kaupapa over the years.

Liz will officially begin her role on Monday, 9 June 2025. In the lead-up to this, she will be working closely with the Leadership Team and the Board to ensure a smooth transition.

“I’m incredibly honoured to be joining Burnett Foundation Aotearoa,” says Liz Gibbs.

“It’s a privilege to lead an organisation with such a rich history and vital role in the health landscape of Aotearoa. I look forward to working alongside the talented team and communities to continue making a meaningful impact.”

Burnett Foundation Aotearoa acknowledges and celebrates the leadership that has brought the organisation to this pivotal moment and remains committed to creating spaces for connection, conversation, and continuity as Liz steps into this important role.
