E noho ana ra au ki te Rotorua-nui-a-Kahumatamomoe, he kaimahi ahau ō te iwi o Ngāti Whakaue.

I hail from Te Tai Tokerau with connections to the Waikato and Te Wai Pounamu. Having spent most of my life in Tāmaki Makaurau, I have settled with my husband’s whānau in Rotorua.

I am grateful for the life experiences I have had which have contributed to the direction my waka has taken. I am currently the Poumanatū for the Housing arm of Te Taumata o Ngāti Whakaue Iho Ake Trust and I am a Board member of Te Matapihi He Tirohanga Mō Te iwi Trust supporting our whānau and iwi housing aspirations, however my beginnings of my career began with the Foundation back in 2000.

Being witness to many friends living with HIV and watching many others die from AIDS-related illnesses while having the privilege of walking their final days with them, this grew a want to support my people. When working in community development with Takataapui, Pacific Peoples and Rainbow Communities, I saw first-hand the impacts of disconnection from whānau, and isolation from community and support networks due to identity.

By returning to this kaupapa within the governance realm, I hope to bring my expertise working with minority communities and iwi to support the important mahi of the Foundation.
