This is your go-to guide to everything you need for a fun, sexy, pleasurable, and safe Winter Pride.

We'll be doing Free HIV and Syphilis testing at:

Landingpage (1)

Mpox

Mpox is still lurking about so, if you’re eligible, we recommend that you get vaccinated against mpox to protect yourself and your communities.

Mpox is an orthopoxvirus – like smallpox but less severe. The first signs of an mpox infection are flu-like symptoms, followed a few days later by painful lesions on the body that can take weeks to heal and cause scarring. We know the vaccine reduces the chance of these severe prolonged symptoms.

Landingpage 4

Testing

Are you testing regularly for HIV & STIs? Knowing your status helps us stop new HIV & STI transmissions in Aotearoa.

If you want to get a test while at Winter Pride, you can get a test at The Doctors on Whakatipu and Queenstown Medical Centre.

Our HIV self-test vending machine at The Doctors is quick, easy and discreet!

Landingpage 5

PrEP

PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis) is a pill to prevent HIV, it reduces the risk of acquiring HIV by up to 99%,

You can take PrEP daily, or ‘event-based’ for a short planned period of hook ups (i.e Winter Pride).

Landingpage 6

DoxyPEP

Have you heard about DoxyPEP (Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis)? DoxyPEP is an STI prevention tool that blocks 70-80% of syphilis transmission.

There are some pretty strict eligibility criteria to ensure we make the maximum impact while reducing the risk. Take the eligibility test on our website and download a letter to show your doctor.

Landingpage 7

Condoms & Lube

Condoms and lube keep you safe from HIV and other STIs and can make you feel confident and secure in all your hook-ups. We’ll be there with some prepacked condom and lube packets, but we also recommend packing your own.

Remember – even if you’re on PrEP, condoms are a great way to stay even safer.

Landingpage 8

If you think you’ve been exposed

If there’s a chance you’ve been exposed to HIV, and you weren’t using a condom or on PrEP, there’s no need to panic. HIV PEP(post-exposure prophylaxis) is available at both The Doctors on Whakatipu and Queenstown Medical Centre. Make sure you access this within 72 hours to be sure you’re protected.

Not sure if you’re at risk?

Landingpage 10

Consent

Consent is about making sure everyone in a sexual encounter feels safe, comfortable, and enthusiastic to ensure a pleasurable experience for everybody.

Consent is not a one-off event, and it’s okay to want to want to stop at any time. Even if you’ve already said yes.

Consent also includes a chat on what forms of protection each person prefers, including condom use, PrEP or U=U.

Landingpage 11
